It has snippets of conversation submitted by readers who overheard them on the street, or in the elevator, or more often than not, in the subway. As Lawrence Block wrote, "You don't often overhear a lot of interesting things when you're driving around in your car. Overheard in Los Angeles? No, I don't think so."
