Victor Tan Chen is a doctoral candidate in sociology and social policy at Harvard University, where he studies poverty, development, and globalization. His work has appeared in Newsday, the Minority Law Journal, The Miami Herald, the Philadelphia Daily News, and The Oregonian. The son of Taiwanese immigrant parents, Chen was born in New York, and grew up in the suburbs of South Jersey. He now lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
