Born and raised in Los Angeles, Tamura is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in political science at the University of California at Los Angeles, where she studies race and ethnicity. Besides being a full-time student and a proud mother, Tamura also volunteers as a mentor for Partners for Success, a program geared toward motivating students from underrepresented groups to pursue higher education.
