Robert William Russ was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. His first film, The Obstacles of Higher Education, earned him a scholarship from the College of Santa Fe's Moving Image Arts Department. He is currently a freelance writer/filmmaker dividing his time and duties between Los Angeles, New York City, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and describes himself as "happily yet hopelessly Midwestern." He has a film currently in development that he won't discuss other than to say it "will change the world but will probably cost me my life." He is also involved with ecological awareness projects in coordination with a union of South American countries. His favorite candy is Sweet Tarts and he claims to enjoy criticism.
