Your journal has a courageous, vibrant life of its own and for this I commend you. The living soul of your journal has inspired and consoled many hearts and minds, perhaps more than you realize. INTHEFRAY Magazine keeps publishing thanks to the generous support of readers like you. If you value independent journalism and enjoy reading “stimulating and provocative” articles on issues of identity and community, please consider giving back. As you know, INTHEFRAY is staffed entirely by volunteers. Individual donations are our lifeblood, accounting for the majority of our funding every year. Every small amount helps. Every donor is recognized on this page (or anonymously, if you prefer). And every dollar donated to the magazine goes to the work we do — that is, publishing the magazine, paying our writers and artists, and spreading the word about INTHEFRAY. Please note that In The Fray, Inc., the organization that publishes INTHEFRAY Magazine, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN/tax ID number: 04-352-0135), so all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by U.S. federal law. If your employer has a program to match donations made to nonprofit organizations, our staff can help you with the paperwork and provide any information that is needed — just let us know. Many companies match donations, and this is an easy way to double the amount of your contribution. SPECIAL OFFER: Readers who make a donation of US$30 or more will receive an INTHEFRAY coffee mug in the mail.* HOW YOU CAN HELP You can make contributions online using a credit card or bank account. We recommend that you donate through Google Checkout, which does not charge nonprofits any transaction fees. If you do not want to set up a Google account, you can use PayPal.com. You do not need a PayPal account to donate in this way, and PayPal gives you the option of making one-time donations or recurring monthly ones. We also support payments via Amazon.com and JustGive.org, though you will need to set up an account on these sites to donate. Please note that all of these online payment services except Google Checkout charge a service fee — typically about 3 percent — for donations made through them. For example, if you made a $100 donation via PayPal, INTHEFRAY would receive $96.80. Another option is to mail us a check. Please make the check payable to “In The Fray, Inc.” Our mailing address is: In The Fray, Inc.NOTE: After you submit your donation online or mail your check, please email us using this form. In your message, tell us how you wish your name to be displayed on the site. We normally include the donor’s full name and city of residence, but anonymous donations or pseudonyms are fine, too. If you want a website to be listed along with your name, please let us know. Also, if you made a donation of US$30 or more, let us know where to mail your coffee mug. If you have any questions, contact us using this form. INTHEFRAY is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our readers and donors; you can read our privacy notice in its entirety here. With your help, we can continue to provoke thoughtful discussion on the issues that too often divide us. —The Editors *It generally costs INTHEFRAY $4-6 to ship a coffee mug to a destination within the continental United States; this amount is included in the $30 donation. If you make a donation and receive an INTHEFRAY mug, under U.S. Internal Revenue Service guidelines the amount of the donation that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of your donation over the fair market value of the mug, which is $2. In other words, you can deduct the amount of your donation minus $2 from your taxes. For donations of $41.50 or more, however, under IRS guidelines the estimated value of the item received (i.e. the mug) is not substantial, so in that case you may deduct the full amount of your donation from your taxes. We would like to thank the following donors for their kind and generous support of the magazine and its mission to build a world of greater tolerance and understanding. Without your help, this magazine would not be possible. 2007 donors Avenging Angels, Inc. Our special thanks to Alexander T.H. Nguyen, Victor Tan Chen and Emi Endo, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Tribune New York Foundation, and the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation for the substantial gifts they made this year to INTHEFRAY. 2006 donors Toyin Adeyemi, New York Our special thanks to Laura Nathan, Alexander T.H. Nguyen, and the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation for the substantial gifts they made this year to INTHEFRAY. 2005 donors ccturner, New York Past donors American Express (Global Volunteer Action Fund)
