Amnesty International, the New York Society for Ethical Culture, and Human Rights First present:

THE BEST HOPE FOR PEACE IN DARFUR

The systematic, state-sponsored killings and rapes in Darfur, western Sudan, have resulted in 2.4 million displaced Darfuris, more than 300,000 dead, charges of crimes against humanity, and what some call 'ethnic cleansing' and others, like the Bush administration, call ‘genocide’.  Join Nicholas Kristof, Mark Malloch Brown, Juan Mendez, and Tragi Mustafa in a discussion on ending the atrocities in Darfur, and why you are the best hope for peace and justice.

Wednesday, April 19th *FREE*
Panel from 7PM to 9PM
Doors open at 6PM for information fair featuring NGOs working on Darfur.
No reservations; arrive early to secure a seat.

At The New York Society for Ethical Culture
2 West 64th Street at Central Park West
(Subways A, C, B, D, and 1 to Columbus Circle)

PANELISTS:
*Nicholas Kristof, Op-Ed columnist for the New York Times whose tireless advocacy on Darfur has made him ‘a one-man army’ focusing attention on the atrocities and pressuring the US government to respond.

*Mark Malloch Brown, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and second-in-command to Kofi Annan.

*Juan Mendez, President of the International Center for Transitional Justice and United Nations Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide.

*Tragi Mustafa, Darfuri refugee living in Ontario and Executive Director of the Darfur Association of Canada and founder of Save Women-Sudan.

*Karima Bennoune, moderator, Amnesty International board member and Professor of International Law at Rutgers University School of Law–Newark.
