In addition to submitting application forms, editors must also submit a brief resume. Gatekeepers are any senior journalists from any medium who help select editorial content. In the past, executive editors, managing editors, broadcast producers, foreign editors, business editors, editorial page editors and others have participated in the Gatekeeper fellowships, which have taken U.S. editors to Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, Lebanon/Syria and India. This year's fellowship trip to Egypt is a rare opportunity to meet leading figures in one of the key countries in the Middle East. The selected group of Gatekeepers will interview leading Egyptian government and opposition leaders, as well as religious, diplomatic, business, cultural, and other figures.
