Though Dove and Nike have captured our attention with their new ad campaigns featuring real" women, New Moon has been profiling 25 girls with real beauty for six years.

New Moon magazine’s girl editors (the Girls Editorial Board) published their first “25 Beautiful Girls” issue in 2000 as a challenge to People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” issue.  Instead of equating beauty with celebrity and outward appearance, New Moon’s May/June issue honors girls for their inner beauty:  the beauty of conviction, caring and action.

New Moon currently is searching for girls between the ages of 8 and 14 who radiate inner beauty to profile in its seventh-annual “25 Beautiful Girls” issue.  Both girls and adults are encouraged to nominate girls by October 1, 2005.

New Moon honors girls who overcome difficulties, stand firm in their beliefs, fight against injustices or simply make others smile.  To nominate a girl for this honor, send New Moon an essay explaining EXACTLY why the nominee is beautiful for who she is and what she does.
