Old age is inevitable. I would rank it right up there with death, taxes and, in my case, prison. It has been both necessary and helpful to set realistic goals about my appearance. It would be a perfect world if I woke up, magically became 25 years old, and looked like Giselle Bündchen with my current life experience. That dream, however, belongs to a teenager, not a 47-year-old woman.

It continually amazes me that we as women are portrayed as being the weaker of the two sexes. I was watching television last week — The View, to be exact, and one of the women expressed extreme surprise that some of the torturers in Abu Ghraib were female. Our daughters are exposed to the same intense subliminal media onslaught as our sons, so why is it so shocking to think that women cannot be violent?
