I sleep on Black Friday

A Wal-Mart worker is trampled to death on Black Friday. To those of you who killed him, to those of you who stood by, those of you who tried to trample his co-workers as they tried to help him, and to those who complained when the store was closed due to the tragedy you all make me almost ashamed to be a human being. Nothing you can buy, no matter what the price or how badly a loved one wanted it, is worth killing someone.

Amen, writegal. Amen. And while, personally, this doesn't make me ashamed to be a human being, it does almost make me ashamed to be an American. This event just says it all, doesn't it? It's a true snapshot of the United States in the 21st century. You've got the corporate mindset which shills unnecessary commodities at us for (debatable)"bargain" prices at godawful hours which the rooster himself thinks are insane; vulture-like consumers stampeding over each other for products they don't need and with money they don't have; and both sides thinking that the loss of a man's life (not to mention the unimaginable loss to his family) is an acceptable sacrifice on the altar of the almighty dollar.
And, oh yes, did I forget to comment on the fact that the day after Thanksgiving is considered the unofficial beginning of the Holiday Season of peace and good will towards men? Hmmm..can't imagine why that slipped my mind.
-This was a "Black Friday," you say? I couldn't agree more!
-"Tidings of comfort and joy?"-->Not so much.
