| Penny Newbury received her Ph. D. in Literature in 1996 and was a social services administrator until she got up the nerve to join the US Peace Corps in 1999, and since then has been living and working outside the US with international non-profit agencies, most recently managing a refugee returns program in Prizren, Kosovo. The lure of spring in New England was too much for her, though, and she now writes grants for a Connecticut municipality, which she tells herself is sort of like writing fiction for a living, but she's hoping to travel again soon. She has had short fiction published in The Southern Review, the Mississippi Review, Descant, The Wisconsin Review, Changes, Green Conjunctions, Northeast Magazine, Story Quarterly, Crowdancing, ACM, Primavera, Gargoyle, and others.
