Suan Pineda
A first generation Chinese born and raised in Panama, Suan Pineda has left the mellow Central American Pacific coast for a series of landlocked places: Missouri, Madrid, San Antonio, Salt Lake City (her current stop while working for The Salt Lake Tribune). Her work has appeared in Spanish-language publications, The World and I magazine; she’s currently working on an essay for an anthology. An amateur cook, a tango enthusiast, Pineda seeks to further her love of words with a comparative literature master’s degree.

Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion. —Dwight D. Eisenhower, former U.S. president
